THOMAS PRICE FROM KIRKBY JAILED FOR ABDUCTION OF 7-YEAR-OLD BOY IN LIVERPOOL
In September 2010, a disturbing case unfolded in Liverpool involving a soldier from Kirkby who was convicted of abducting a young boy and revealed to have an unhealthy interest in underage children. Rifleman Thomas Price, aged 22, was found guilty of serious offenses related to his predatory behavior towards minors and was subsequently sentenced to a prison term of two years and eight months. The court proceedings detailed that Price had previously engaged in sexual misconduct with a 15-year-old teenager before he targeted the seven-year-old boy. The incident came to light when the young victim managed to escape from Price, prompting immediate police intervention. Authorities later uncovered that Price had lured the boy into a local park, where he engaged in inappropriate behavior, including offering the child a cigarette and tickling his feet, actions that raised significant concern about his intentions.
Judge Mark Brown, presiding over the case at Liverpool Crown Court, emphasized the gravity of Price's actions, stating, "You have committed two serious offences in relation to young boys." The court heard that Price's criminal conduct was not isolated, as he had already admitted to sexual activity with a child and child abduction.
During the trial, Robert Wynn Jones, representing Price, highlighted the defendant's background, noting that he had endured two extremely challenging tours of duty in Afghanistan. Despite these military experiences, the court underscored the severity of his crimes and the need for a substantial custodial sentence to protect the community from further harm.
