BRADFORD OFFENDER JAILED FOR OVER FIVE YEARS FOR RAPE AT HOUSE PARTY

Rapist Thinkwell Javangwe, aged 30, residing on Barnsbridge Grove, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, was sentenced to more than five years in prison for the sexual assault of a drunk woman at her home during a house party in Bradford.

The incident occurred after the woman had argued with her fiancé and fallen asleep.

She awoke to find Javangwe forcing himself on her, and she pushed him away.

Javangwe expressed remorse but later refused to admit to the assault.

During his trial, he claimed the woman had attempted to seduce him in the bathroom.

He maintained his innocence throughout the police investigation, which caused the victim to testify in court.

The judge, Recorder Simon Batiste, ordered a lifelong restraining order banning Javangwe from contact with the woman.

The court learned that Javangwe and the woman had been drinking with friends in October 2015, that she was intoxicated, and that Javangwe had no prior sexual offense convictions, though he had a battery conviction from 2010.

Javangwe showed no remorse at sentencing and was deemed aware of the woman's intoxicated state when the crime occurred.

He is required to register as a sex offender for life.

The police expressed their support for the victim's bravery and encouraged others to come forward if they experience similar crimes.
