THILAGANATHAN RAJKUMAR FROM DONCASTER BEATS DOG WITH METAL CHAIN AND INJURES MAN

Thilaganathan Rajkumar, a resident of The Brambles on Bloomhill Road in Moorends, Doncaster, has been convicted of a serious animal cruelty incident that also resulted in injury to a bystander.

Born in November 1977, Rajkumar is known locally as the owner of the Go Local convenience store and serves as a director at Brambles Property Ltd, a lettings company operating in the area.

On the evening of September 15, 2023, Rajkumar was seen on Marshland Road in Doncaster with his dog, Danny, a Labrador cross breed.

Witnesses reported that around 6 pm, Rajkumar was engaged in an act of cruelty, repeatedly beating his dog with a metal chain.

The assault caused visible harm to Danny, raising concerns among passersby and animal welfare advocates.

During this disturbing incident, a man walking his own dog on a lead approached Rajkumar to confront him about his treatment of Danny.

In response, Rajkumar allowed his dog to jump at the man, which resulted in Danny biting the victim’s stomach.

The bite caused puncture wounds, necessitating hospital treatment for the injured man.

The incident drew immediate attention from local authorities and animal welfare organizations.

Following the events, legal action was taken against Rajkumar.

He was charged with allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control and causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.

As part of the legal proceedings, a destruction order was granted for Danny, who had spent 292 days in police kennels awaiting the outcome of the case.

Rajkumar was given a 21-day window to appeal this decision; failure to do so would result in the dog being euthanized.

In court, Rajkumar received a sentence of eight months in prison, suspended for two years.

Additionally, he was ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid community work and pay £4,000 in compensation to South Yorkshire Police.

Despite the severity of the case, no ban was imposed on him from owning animals in the future.

This incident has sparked outrage within the Doncaster community, highlighting ongoing concerns about animal cruelty and public safety.

The case underscores the importance of strict enforcement of animal welfare laws and the need for responsible pet ownership in the region.
