TERRY REID ATTACKS DOG IN EXETER'S SIDWELL STREET - CONVICTED OF CRUELTY

In a disturbing incident that shocked the residents of Exeter, Terry Reid, born on 11 October 1956 and residing at 5A Redlands Close, Whipton, Exeter EX4 8BE, was involved in a brutal attack on a dog in the city’s busy streets. The incident took place on 14 November 2022, when witnesses observed Reid violently assaulting an unnamed dog in Sidwell Street, one of Exeter’s most frequented shopping areas.

According to reports, Reid seized the dog by its lead and forcefully swung it around before slamming the animal against a nearby bus shelter. The witnesses, who were present at the scene, were reportedly appalled by the level of violence inflicted upon the defenseless animal. Despite the severity of the attack, there is no publicly available information regarding the current condition or fate of the dog involved.

Reid was initially charged with the offence and pleaded not guilty to the accusations. However, after a thorough trial, he was found guilty of the cruelty and assault on the dog. The court proceedings concluded with Reid being sentenced to a 12-month conditional discharge, meaning he will not serve time in prison but must adhere to certain conditions set by the court. Additionally, he was ordered to pay costs amounting to £100.

There was no mention during the sentencing of any ban or restriction related to owning animals in the future. The case has sparked discussions within the local community about animal welfare and the importance of strict enforcement of cruelty laws in Exeter and beyond.
