TERRENCE WILLIAMS FROM HELSTON SENTENCED TO 16 YEARS FOR CHILD ABUSE AND RAPE
In a significant case that has shocked the community of Helston, a local pensioner named Terrence Williams has been handed a lengthy prison sentence of 16 years after being found guilty of multiple serious charges involving the abuse and rape of young girls.The conviction was secured following a trial at Truro Crown Court, where the jury deliberated and returned a verdict of guilt on all counts.
Williams, aged 68 and residing on Trengrouse Way in Helston, faced a total of twelve charges related to indecent assault and four counts of rape.
The allegations spanned a period from 1988 to 1996, during which the victim, now in her 30s, was subjected to repeated abuse.
The woman, who chose to come forward in May 2012, recounted to the court that the abuse began when she was under the age of 10 and persisted over several years, causing lasting trauma.
The court heard that Williams, a former electrical fitter’s mate at RNAS Culdrose, was accused of assaulting and raping the young girl multiple times during the period in question.
The jury's decision was announced yesterday, leading to the judge's formal sentencing of Williams to 16 years in prison.
