DONCASTER MAN SENTENCED FOR BRUTAL DOMESTIC HOMICIDE
Terence Papworth, aged 45, was directly involved in the brutal death of Amy-Leanne Stringfellow, a 26-year-old mother from Doncaster.Amy-Leanne was subjected to a sustained and horrific attack by Papworth, who was her controlling boyfriend at the time.
According to court reports, he strangled her, assaulted her with a smashed vodka bottle, and inflicted multiple stab wounds with a sword, leaving her dead on his bed.
The inquest at Doncaster Coroners Court revealed that Papworth had previously been on bail for assaulting Amy-Leanne and threatening her with a gun.
On the night of her death, Papworth initially lied to her family about visiting a friend and later was captured on CCTV arriving at his home where Amy was present.
He took disturbing photographs of her injuries on his phone and left the scene before being seen leaving in his van.
Later that evening, Papworth confessed to a friend that he had just killed her, stating, "I’ve killed her, I’ve just stood there and watched the life drain out of her." He then arrived at Doncaster Police Station to surrender himself, claiming, "I’ve just killed her." Police found Amy seriously injured and she was pronounced dead shortly after midnight.
The court heard that Papworth had a history of domestic violence, threats, and previous arrests for assault and threats to kill.
Tragically, while awaiting trial, Papworth was found deceased in his prison cell at HMP Leeds on November 22, just days before his court hearing.
The coroner concluded that Amy-Leanne was unlawfully killed, emphasizing her loved and cherished status among her family and noting the brutality of the attack that led to her death.
