In a case that highlights the ongoing battle against online child exploitation, Ted Meyer, a 58-year-old man from the remote Northumberland hamlet of Catcleugh near Hexham, has been convicted and sentenced for possessing and creating indecent images of children. The arrest came as part of a broader international effort to combat the proliferation of illegal online pornography involving minors.

Authorities executed a raid on Meyer's secluded residence in Catcleugh, a small village known for its quiet, rural setting. During the operation, law enforcement officers seized his computer, which contained evidence of his illicit activities. Meyer, who previously worked as a residential social worker until April 2001, was taken into custody and subsequently charged with multiple offenses related to child pornography.

He faced a total of twelve charges, including making indecent photographs of children and possessing such images. Meyer admitted to these charges during his court proceedings.
