A chef who subjected his partner to a series of violent attacks has been jailed for more than five years.
Tavien Sutton assaulted the woman on three separate occasions, the first taking place within weeks of moving in with her.
During the final attack he stamped on her head and threatened to stab her.
A scan later revealed she had suffered a bleed on the brain and a broken nose.
Sutton, 29, of Chapel Lane, Bingley, was jailed at Bradford Crown court for five and a half years after he pleaded guilty to charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, assault and making a threat to kill.
Sutton and the victim had been in a "toxic relationship", prosecutor Syam Soni said, with Sutton attacking the woman just weeks after moving in with her in February.
He said Sutton apologised after the first incident but a month later threatened to "smash her face in" and "boot her in the face" during another row.
In April, the court heard that the couple had another argument and Sutton repeatedly punched the victim as she curled up on a bed, before saying he was going to kill her with a knife.
In a victim impact statement read out in court the woman said she had not been able to return to work and suffered from "nightmares" as a result of Sutton's behaviour.
Passing sentence Judge Ahmed Nadim said Sutton had conducted himself in a "most violent, shameful and disgraceful manner" during the relationship.
He said the victim was entitled to be treated with respect and to be protected from harm and told Sutton he "miserably failed to deliver that".
He also imposed an indefinite restraining order banning Sutton from having any contact with the victim.
