TADEUSZ KLEMENTOWICZ FROM SHOTTON SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC INDECENT IMAGES OF 4-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN MOLD
In June 2014, a disturbing case emerged from Shotton involving Tadeusz Klementowicz, a man who was ultimately convicted and sentenced for the heinous crime of taking indecent photographs of a young girl. The incident was brought to light when a mother, deeply distressed and horrified, contacted the police after suspecting that her 4-year-old daughter had been photographed in a compromising and inappropriate manner.Authorities responded swiftly, seizing Klementowicz’s mobile phone during their investigation. A detailed examination of the device revealed a disturbing collection of digital material: 15 still images and two videos, all of which depicted the young girl in a sexualized context. The images included close-up photographs of her private parts, and some of the footage showed Klementowicz’s hand engaging in indecent assault while the girl was asleep. These findings confirmed the severity of the offense and the malicious intent behind the images.
When questioned initially, Klementowicz, aged 51 and residing on King Edward Street in Shotton, denied any sexual motivation behind his actions. He claimed that the images were taken from a photographic or artistic perspective, asserting that there was nothing sexual about them. However, during the subsequent court proceedings at Mold Crown Court, the evidence was irrefutable, and he was convicted and sentenced to three years in prison. Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for life, a measure intended to monitor and prevent any future offenses.
Throughout the trial, Klementowicz admitted to two charges of sexual assault and 18 charges related to the taking of indecent photographs and movies, categorized at levels one and three of severity. The court also imposed a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) to restrict his future activities and prevent him from reoffending.
Prosecutor Jayne La Grua detailed the nature of the images, emphasizing that Klementowicz had filmed and photographed the girl’s private parts, with some images showing his hand indecently assaulting her. The court heard that the acts were committed impulsively, and Klementowicz claimed that his actions were not driven by sexual intent, but the evidence painted a different picture of calculated and planned behavior.
Defense lawyer Mr. Sabino acknowledged the gravity of the case, describing it as extremely serious. He highlighted that Klementowicz had touched the girl’s genitalia while she was sleeping and had recorded these acts. The defendant expressed full remorse and acknowledged the trauma inflicted on the child’s family. He was described as being overwhelmed with guilt, shame, and remorse, and he admitted that he could not explain his motivations for such reprehensible conduct.
It was noted that Klementowicz had no prior criminal record and had not engaged in any grooming or violent behavior before the incident. There was no use of weapons or physical injury involved. His defense suggested that he was isolated, confused, and curious, and that he had not previously contemplated such behavior. Despite the difficulty in accepting responsibility, Klementowicz cooperated with authorities and was honest about his actions during the investigation.
The judge, Philip Hughes, acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding the psychological impact on the young victim and considered the profound effect on her family. The court took into account the fact that Klementowicz kept the images on his phone for his own sexual gratification, indicating a significant degree of planning. The case underscored the devastating consequences of such crimes, and the sentence reflected the seriousness with which the court viewed the offense.
