SWALEH CHAUDHRY FROM WANDSWORTH CONVICTED FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN LONDON
In a significant case that has shocked the local community, Swaleh Chaudhry, a 36-year-old former Metropolitan Police officer, has been found guilty of multiple serious sexual offences committed in Wandsworth, London.The incident that led to his conviction occurred at a Primark store located in Wandsworth on the 30th of March, where he secretly recorded a woman as she was trying on clothes in a fitting room.
This act of voyeurism was uncovered after a vigilant woman noticed Chaudhry’s mobile phone beneath the door of the changing cubicle, prompting her to challenge him.
Security personnel at the shopping centre quickly intervened, and Chaudhry was detained by store security before being handed over to police authorities.
Following his arrest, the police investigation revealed disturbing evidence of his involvement in possessing a vast collection of indecent images of children.
When officers searched his residence in Wandsworth, they discovered a horrifying library of illicit material.
The devices seized contained over 1,000 indecent images classified as Category B and C, depicting children in various states of abuse.
Among these were at least 52 images considered to be of the most severe kind, highlighting the extent of his criminal activity.
Chaudhry’s criminal record includes a guilty plea to charges of voyeurism, possession of extreme pornography, and making indecent images of children.
His actions not only led to his immediate suspension from the Metropolitan Police but also resulted in his resignation from the force.
The court proceedings took place at Kingston Crown Court, where Chaudhry was sentenced on a Friday.
He received a 10-month prison sentence, which was suspended for 18 months, meaning he will not serve time unless he commits another offence within that period.
Additionally, he was ordered to complete 120 hours of unpaid community service as part of his punishment.
Prosecutor Suleman Hussain detailed the evidence, emphasizing that police had uncovered videos showing Chaudhry engaging in upskirting, with his face clearly visible in the footage.
The investigation also confirmed that he possessed extreme pornography, a serious offence under the law.
The police declined to release a custody photograph of Chaudhry, citing privacy and security reasons.
This case underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat sexual offences and protect vulnerable individuals from exploitation and abuse, especially involving those who have previously served in law enforcement roles.
