CARE WORKER JAILED FOR PINNING RESIDENT TO FLOOR AND STRIKING HIM
A care home worker named Suzanne Edmondson, aged 49, was convicted for assault and ill-treatment towards a resident at Chasewood Care Home located in Exhall, Warwickshire. The authorities were alerted after colleagues observed her pinning the resident down and delivering a slap to his face, all while using foul language.
The resident's injuries included a black eye, a laceration above his eye, bruising on his arms, and swelling in his fingers.
Though Edmondson initially claimed the resident had fallen, evidence showed that she had intentionally assaulted him.
She was sentenced to serve two years and eight months in prison for the offenses of actual bodily harm and patient mistreatment.
The incident was reported after the victim’s family was informed and the care home staff contacted law enforcement.
Edmondson admitted to the charges in an earlier court hearing, leading to her conviction and subsequent imprisonment.
