A PERVERT HAS BEEN PUT BEHIND BARS AFTER BEING CAUGHT WITH SICKENING CHILD ABUSE IMAGES FOR A THIRD TIME.
Stuart Wise was handed a seven-month prison sentence in May 2018, which was suspended for two years, after police discovered he possessed 367 illegal images.
A year later, officers raided his home on Morris Avenue, South Shields, seizing computers and uncovering an extra 225 disturbing images and videos involving children.
Before facing charges in court over these findings in 2019, authorities conducted another raid in July at his residence on Cedar Grove, Hebburn, where a disc containing 332 indecent images was confiscated.
During the hearing, prosecutor Kevin Wardlaw told Newcastle Crown Court that the main concern was Wise’s ongoing pattern of similar illegal activity, describing it as persistent.
Wise pleaded guilty to eight charges of creating and holding indecent and prohibited images of minors.
The images and videos were categorized across different levels of seriousness.
In April 2020, Wise was sentenced to another suspended prison term after authorities found a laptop he had not declared, breaching the conditions of his previous sentence.
Today, Judge Robert Adams sentenced him to 19 months in custodial detention, ordered him to register as a sex offender, and imposed a sexual harm prevention order for ten years.
The judge stated that immediate imprisonment was necessary, citing the breach of his previous suspended sentence and poor compliance.
Although Wise is now cooperating with authorities and the risk he poses seems to be decreasing, the court saw no alternative but detention.
Defence lawyer Shaun Routledge noted that despite his client’s offending history, Wise had maintained employment as a driver at a local fish and chip shop and still had job prospects.
He also expressed that Wise has shown a change in attitude and is actively working on addressing his problems.
