STUART WHYTE SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE IN INVERKEITHING AND LIVINGSTON

A man named Stuart Whyte has been sentenced to four years in prison after being found guilty of multiple sexual offenses involving young girls. The crimes, which occurred up to three decades ago, involved lewd, indecent, and libidinous behavior directed at a three-year-old girl and two other underage females. The offences took place in the areas of Inverkeithing and Livingston, where Whyte resided at the time.

During his trial, the victims bravely took the stand to recount their traumatic experiences. Despite the emotional toll, they provided detailed testimonies that painted a disturbing picture of the abuse they endured. Whyte, now 44 years old, attempted to dismiss their accounts, claiming that the allegations were fabricated and part of a conspiracy to create a “fantasy.”

The sentencing hearing was held at Livingston Sheriff Court, where Sheriff Susan Craig acknowledged the courage of the women who testified. She praised their bravery for attending court and giving evidence despite facing ongoing hostility from Whyte. In her remarks, she emphasized the lasting impact of the abuse on the first victim, who was just three years old at the time of the offences. The sheriff noted that the victim’s life had been significantly affected by Whyte’s actions but also highlighted her resilience in becoming an adult with children of her own.

While recognizing that Whyte was relatively young—only 44 at the time of sentencing—and that he was a first-time offender who had built a successful adult life, Sheriff Craig made it clear that the severity of the crimes warranted a custodial sentence. She ordered that Whyte’s sentence be backdated to January 12, the day he was remanded in custody. Additionally, she imposed a requirement for him to undergo a year of social work supervision upon his release and confirmed that his name would remain on the sex offenders register indefinitely.

Evidence presented during the trial revealed that Whyte had committed multiple offences against his first victim, including four separate incidents at a residence in Livingston when she was between three and four years old. The jury also found him guilty, by majority verdicts, of inappropriately touching a 15-year-old girl at another Livingston house and exposing himself to a girl aged between ten and twelve at the same address.

The first victim, now 32 and married with children, testified that she still experiences flashbacks related to the abuse and the sexual acts she was forced to perform. The second victim, who was a teenager at the time of the abuse, tearfully explained how she had attempted to take her own life six times due to the trauma inflicted by Whyte.

Throughout the sentencing, Whyte showed no visible emotion as the judge delivered her verdict. He was residing at Osprey Brae, Livingston, at the time of sentencing, and the court’s decision underscores the serious nature of his crimes and the lasting impact on his victims.
