STUART STANBRIDGE FROM SIDLESHAM SENTENCED FOR HORSE ABUSE IN CHICHESTER

Stuart Lee Stanbridge, born on June 10, 1983, and residing at Green Lane Piggeries on Ham Road in Sidlesham, Chichester, has been convicted of serious animal cruelty charges. The case revealed that Stanbridge had starved and neglected two horses under his care, leading to significant concern over their health and well-being.

Following a court trial, Stanbridge was sentenced to serve two concurrent prison terms of 20 weeks each. The sentences were handed down after he was found guilty of causing unnecessary suffering to the animals, specifically a black cob gelding and a dun cob gelding. The court's decision was based on evidence that Stanbridge failed to investigate or address the underlying causes of the horses' deteriorating physical condition and weight loss, which indicated neglect and mistreatment.

In addition to his prison sentences, Stanbridge was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £122 and legal costs amounting to £750. The court also imposed a lifelong ban on him owning or keeping any animals, a measure intended to prevent any future incidents of animal cruelty. The case drew attention from local animal welfare groups and the Chichester community, highlighting the importance of responsible pet ownership and the enforcement of animal protection laws.
