STUART JACKSON SENTENCED IN DURHAM FOR SICKENING SEXUAL ABUSE ON YOUNG GIRL
A man named Stuart Jackson, who committed grave sexual offenses against a young girl in Durham more than two decades ago, has finally been brought to justice after a lengthy legal process. The heinous crimes, which included multiple sexual assaults and rape, occurred when Jackson was only around 17 years old.
The young victim, who was under ten years old at the time, endured a series of devastating and disturbing attacks that have left deep emotional scars.
The case was brought before Teesside Crown Court, where Jackson, now 43 years old and residing on Richmond Place in Thornaby, was convicted of a wide range of serious sexual offenses following a trial held earlier this year.
During the proceedings, it was revealed that Jackson's abuse of the girl was both prolonged and multifaceted, involving physical assault, sexual assault with sex toys, and rape.
His actions were described as not only violating the young girl physically but also inflicting lasting psychological trauma.
Jackson appeared at the sentencing via a videolink from Durham Prison, where he is currently incarcerated.
The court considered his crimes to be some of the most grievous, with Judge Chris Smith describing the assaults in detail.
The judge stated, “You subjected your victim to sexual assault in a variety of different ways.
The first episode involved multiple assaults and your second attack on her was similarly multifaceted – both amounted to sustained sexual assaults.” He further explained the brutality of the incidents, noting that “on that day she was subjected to a degrading and humiliating, sustained series of sexual assaults.
The second incident is no less serious; this was a second attack on the same victim.” The court heard that Jackson had used sex toys during the abuse before ultimately raping the young girl.
The physical injuries inflicted were severe enough to cause her difficulty walking, and she was so traumatised that she destroyed her bedsheets, which were stained with her blood.
The judge emphasized that, while the physical injuries may have healed over time, the psychological impact was profound and ongoing.
The victim, who bravely gave a statement in court, described how the abuse profoundly affected her throughout her life.
She suffered flashbacks, depression, anxiety, and required medication and counseling, which provided only limited relief from her mental health struggles.
For his crimes, Stuart Jackson was sentenced to a total of 16 years and six months in prison.
Additionally, he was ordered to be subject to an indefinite restraining order designed to protect the victim from any future contact.
The court also mandated that Jackson must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Commenting on the case after the sentencing, Detective Constable Francesca Siebrits of Cleveland Police expressed hope that justice would help the victim begin to heal.
“Despite the passage of many years, justice has caught up with Jackson, and he now faces a prison sentence.
While this cannot compensate the victim for the trauma she suffered, I hope it will help her begin to move forward with her life and I wish her the very best,” she said.
Safeguarding Chief Inspector Deb Fenny underscored the commitment of law enforcement to pursuing offenders regardless of when the crimes took place.
She stated, “Anyone who has suffered abuse of this kind—whether recent or non-recent—can rest assured that we will do all we can to bring offenders before the courts.
Those who believe they can prey on vulnerable children should realize that they will be dealt with.” Members of the public are encouraged to report any form of abuse, whether recent or historical, to Cleveland Police through the 101 emergency contact line at any time, ensuring that justice continues to be served and victims are protected.
