STEWARD CARLISLE FROM NEWARK SENTENCED FOR REPEATED RAPE IN NOTTINGHAM
A man identified as Stewart Carlisle has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being convicted of multiple counts of sexual assault against a teenage boy in Newark. The case drew significant attention due to the crucial DNA evidence that played a pivotal role in securing the conviction. In December of the previous year, authorities apprehended Carlisle following a detailed investigation into allegations made by the young victim. The teenager reported enduring a series of sexual assaults over a span of five months, which prompted law enforcement to act swiftly. Despite the accusations, Carlisle maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings, asserting that he had never engaged in any sexual contact with the boy.
The trial took place at Nottingham Crown Court in October, where prosecutors presented compelling DNA evidence recovered from two pairs of boxer shorts belonging to the accused. This evidence was instrumental in corroborating the victim’s account of the assaults, significantly weakening Carlisle’s defense and casting serious doubt on his claims of innocence. The DNA findings matched the victim’s description and provided a concrete link to Carlisle, making it difficult for the jury to dismiss the allegations.
Following a week-long trial, the jury found Carlisle guilty of four counts of rape and five counts of sexual activity with a child. In addition to these charges, he was convicted of aggravated vehicle taking and perverting the course of justice. The latter charges were related to his efforts to coerce the victim into retracting the allegations, further demonstrating a pattern of manipulative and criminal behavior.
On Friday, January 31, Carlisle, who was formerly residing in Newark, appeared before Derby Crown Court to be sentenced. The court handed down a 15-year prison sentence, reflecting the severity of his crimes. Moreover, Carlisle was ordered to register as a sex offender for life, a measure intended to monitor and restrict his activities post-release. A restraining order was also issued, prohibiting any contact with the victim to ensure his safety and prevent further harm. The case underscores the importance of forensic evidence in securing justice in sexual assault cases and highlights the ongoing efforts to protect vulnerable individuals from predatory offenders.
