METHILHILL MAN STEVEN GREENHORN CAUGHT IN SOCIAL MEDIA SCAM INVOLVING TEENAGE GIRLS

In June 2016, Steven Greenhorn, a 26-year-old resident of Methilhill in Fife, found himself at the center of a serious criminal case involving the exploitation of teenage girls through social media platforms. Greenhorn, who was employed at an Amazon warehouse, engaged in deceptive online practices by creating and using fake profiles on popular social networking sites such as Facebook, Tinder, and Instagram.

His primary objective appeared to be establishing contact with underage girls, with the sinister intent of obtaining indecent images from them. This behavior was uncovered after police investigations revealed that Greenhorn had been befriending young girls under false pretenses, exploiting their trust to solicit inappropriate photographs.

Greenhorn’s actions came to light when authorities charged him with these offenses, and he was summoned to appear before Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court. The court proceedings took place on June 14, 2016, where he faced charges related to his use of fake profiles and his attempts to coerce teenage girls into sharing indecent images.

During the investigation, police in Fife issued a public appeal for assistance in locating Greenhorn, especially after he failed to appear in court and subsequently skipped bail. As a result of his court appearance, Greenhorn was sentenced to a two-year community payback order, a form of punishment that requires him to perform unpaid work within the community. Despite the court proceedings, Greenhorn continues to deny the allegations, claiming he has not appeared in court and maintaining that he is innocent.
