STEVE DOYLE FROM BUCKS CONVICTED OF SEXUAL OFFENSES AGAINST 14-YEAR-OLD IN AYLESBURY
In a significant case that has drawn attention to issues of child safety and justice, a young victim’s bravery has played a crucial role in securing a conviction against a man accused of serious sexual offenses. The incident took place in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, and the trial concluded after four days of intense legal proceedings at Aylesbury Crown Court. On Thursday, the court found Steven Doyle, a 27-year-old man with no fixed address, guilty of two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a minor. The charges stem from an incident in May of the previous year, when Doyle approached a 14-year-old girl while walking along Buckingham Road in Aylesbury. According to court records, Doyle offered to accompany the girl during their walk, and during this encounter, he engaged her in sexual activity.
Following his arrest on July 12, 2014, Doyle was formally charged with the offenses on April 9 of this year. The case has since been scheduled for sentencing, which is set to take place at Aylesbury Crown Court on August 17. The conviction marks a significant milestone in the pursuit of justice for the young victim, whose courage in coming forward was highlighted by law enforcement officials.
Detective Constable Gemma Robinson, a member of the Force CID involved in the investigation, expressed her appreciation for the victim’s bravery. She stated, “This conviction was only possible due to the courage of the victim in the case and the support she has received from her family. She has sustained extreme emotional distress due to Doyle’s actions, so I hope Doyle’s conviction will provide her with some sense of justice.”
Det Con Robinson also extended her gratitude to the Thames Valley Police officers and staff who worked diligently on the case, as well as to the Crown Prosecution Service for their role in securing the conviction. The case underscores the importance of community vigilance and the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to protect vulnerable individuals from harm in Buckinghamshire and beyond.
