STEVEN DAWSON SENTENCED IN CHAPEL-EN-LE-FRITH FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES

In a recent court ruling, Steven Dawson, a resident of Chapel-en-le-Frith, was formally sentenced for serious sexual offences involving a young girl under the age of 13. The incident, which took place over the course of a year, led to Dawson being convicted and subsequently sentenced to a significant prison term.

At Derby Crown Court, the 59-year-old man received a sentence of six and a half years behind bars. Dawson had previously pleaded guilty to multiple charges during an earlier hearing, acknowledging his involvement in the offences. These charges included causing a child to engage in sexual activity, two counts of sexual assault of a child, and assault by penetration.

The offences occurred within the boundaries of Chapel-en-le-Frith, specifically between December 2019 and December 2020. The victim was a girl who was under 13 years old at the time, highlighting the severity and gravity of the crimes committed.

In addition to his prison sentence, Dawson was subjected to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order. This legal measure is designed to prevent him from having any contact with girls under the age of 16, among other restrictions aimed at protecting children from potential harm.

Furthermore, Dawson has been barred from working with children in any capacity and will be required to register as a sex offender. These conditions are part of ongoing efforts to monitor and restrict his activities to ensure public safety and prevent any future offences.
