MAN JAILED FOR INDECENT EXPOSURE IN FRONT OF GIRLS
A 57-year-old man from Great Cornard, who engaged in sexual assault against two teenage girls and exposed himself indecently to them, has been sentenced to 18 months in jail.During his sentencing, Judge David Wilson described how Steven Caine had engaged the girls in a conversation about the X Factor before suddenly lowering his jogging bottoms and exposing himself.
He also kissed one girl on the cheek and touched the breasts of the other girl over her clothing.
The judge cautioned Caine to avoid situations that could result in further accusations and noted that Caine had already served roughly 14 months on remand, meaning he was set to be released soon.
In addition to his prison sentence, Caine was ordered to adhere to a sexual harm prevention order for ten years and to register as a sex offender for that same period.
Caine, residing at Hardy Court, Sudbury, denied the charges of indecent exposure and two sexual assault offences, but was convicted following a trial in March.
He also admitted to breaching a 12-week suspended sentence imposed in August of the previous year.
The victims, both aged 15, testified in Ipswich Crown Court that Caine approached them in Mulberry Gardens, asking for directions to the bus stop heading to Colchester.
One girl described him as "odd" and stated he was "mumbling" and kept claiming he was autistic.
He then asked their names, shook their hands, inquired if they were virgins, and mentioned finding them "rich boyfriends".
Subsequently, Caine exposed himself, and one of the girls said she looked away quickly upon realising what he was doing.
Steven Dyble, representing Caine, explained that his client had used illicit substances, which contributed to his opportunistic offending.
