BRITISH PAEDOPHILE TEACHER STEVE LORYMAN JAILED IN CAMBODIA FROM BRADFORD

In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community and international observers alike, Steve Loryman, a 57-year-old British teacher, was sentenced to prison by a Cambodian court for heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of underage boys. Loryman, who was employed as an English instructor at a private school in Cambodia, was arrested in November after authorities uncovered evidence of his inappropriate conduct.

According to reports, Loryman was detained at his rented apartment in a district of Cambodia following an investigation that spanned over two weeks. The authorities acted on a tip received on November 11, which led them to monitor his activities. During this period, police observed him in the company of five young boys, some of whom he was seen buying food for at a local market while riding in a tuk tuk. The children, aged between nine and 13, later disclosed to police that they had been paid sums ranging from £4 to £8 to engage in sexual acts with Loryman.

Further investigation revealed that Loryman had paid four of the boys, all between the ages of ten and 14, for sexual encounters. Police uncovered that he had been paying the children for sex, and evidence indicated that he had been grooming them by teaching them English, providing food, supporting their school fees, and allowing them to play freely in his apartment. This behavior appeared to be part of a calculated effort to gain their trust before exploiting them sexually.

During the raid on his residence, authorities found six children in his home, with five confirming that they had been subjected to sexual abuse. Police officers reportedly caught him in the act of engaging in sexual activity with one child, while three other children watched. The severity of the case prompted swift action from the court, which sentenced Loryman to 15 months in prison; however, three months of this sentence were suspended. The court also ordered him to pay approximately $1,500 in compensation to two of his victims and fined him $750. Additionally, Loryman was banned from entering Cambodia for three years after serving his jail term.

Child protection organizations, including Action Pour les Enfants, issued statements highlighting their involvement in the case. They revealed that they had been alerted to Loryman’s activities in September of the previous year through confidential sources. The organization cooperated closely with the Cambodian National Police during the investigation, which ultimately led to his arrest and prosecution.

It was also disclosed that Loryman, who previously served as a deputy headmaster at a school in Keighley, had been volunteering in Cambodia with his wife since June 2017. His actions have not only brought shame to his professional background but have also raised serious concerns about safeguarding and the protection of vulnerable children in the region. The case continues to serve as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and proactive measures in combating child abuse across borders.
