ALNWICK PERVERT STEPHEN WRENCH CAUGHT WITH CHILD INDECENT IMAGES IN NORTHUMBERLAND
In March 2021, a disturbing case emerged involving Stephen Wrench, a man from Alnwick, Northumberland, who was implicated in a series of troubling incidents related to child exploitation and abuse. The case first came to light when Wrench was accused of making inappropriate comments to a nine-year-old girl, raising serious concerns about his conduct and intentions.According to reports, Wrench approached the young girl and engaged her in conversation, asking whether she had a boyfriend and if she kissed him. The conversation took a disturbing turn when he inquired if he could kiss her private parts. The girl, understandably distressed, responded with a firm no, and Wrench responded by laughing at her reaction. The young girl confided in her mother about the encounter, prompting immediate action from authorities.
Following her disclosure, Wrench was swiftly arrested and faced charges related to engaging in sexual communication with a minor. In September 2018, he was sentenced to a three-year community order for his inappropriate behavior. However, the authorities' investigation did not end there. During the process of seizing and examining his electronic devices, police uncovered a far more troubling aspect of Wrench’s activities—he possessed numerous indecent images of children stored on his computer and other digital devices.
Further investigations revealed that Wrench, who expressed a preference for girls aged between five and ten, had a collection of illicit images depicting minors ranging from one to thirteen years old. The severity of these findings led to his reappearance in court, where he faced charges of producing and possessing indecent images of children.
At Newcastle Crown Court, the prosecution, led by Andrew Espley, detailed the extent of Wrench’s digital misconduct. The evidence presented included photographs and videos found on his phone and laptop, clearly showing children in compromising and illegal situations. Wrench admitted that the images were his and confessed that viewing such material had become a habit, revealing a disturbing pattern of behavior. He explicitly stated that he was aroused by these images and reiterated his preference for young girls aged between five and ten.
Wrench, now 38 years old and residing on Tower Lane in Alnwick, pleaded guilty to the charges of making indecent images of children. His sentencing included a 12-week prison term, suspended for 12 months, along with a fine of £500 and additional costs of £200. The court also mandated that he register as a sex offender and be subject to a sexual harm prevention order for a period of seven years. Judge Sarah Mallett acknowledged that Wrench had shown some signs of progress and demonstrated potential for rehabilitation, but emphasized the seriousness of his offenses and the need for ongoing supervision and restrictions.
