KARL CURRY SENTENCED IN ALNWICK FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AND VOYEURISM CASE

In a serious case that has shocked the community of Alnwick, Northumbria, Karl Curry, aged 34, was sentenced to over four years in prison following his conviction for sexual assault and voyeurism. The incident, which took place in June 2020, involved Curry assaulting a young girl while he was alone with her. The victim, demonstrating remarkable bravery, initially told Curry to stop as he began his inappropriate actions. When he ignored her pleas, she resorted to biting him in self-defense and managed to escape from the situation.

After her escape, the girl confided in her family and friends about the distressing incident. Her family, in turn, contacted Northumbria Police, prompting an immediate and thorough investigation. Law enforcement officers swiftly responded, arresting Curry and bringing him in for questioning. During the police interview, Curry denied the allegations of sexual assault. However, evidence against him led to charges being filed, including one count of sexual assault and two counts of voyeurism involving the same victim.

Initially, Curry denied all allegations, but two weeks before his scheduled trial at Newcastle Crown Court in March, he changed his plea and admitted to all charges. His decision to plead guilty came as the case was set to proceed, and he was subsequently remanded in custody pending sentencing.

On Friday, May 5, at Newcastle Crown Court, Curry was formally sentenced to a total of four years and three months behind bars. Additionally, Curry was handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which restricts his behavior and contact in various ways. As part of his sentence, he will remain on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life, a measure designed to monitor and manage his risk to the community moving forward.
