A man who committed multiple sexual assaults and attacks on a woman was sentenced to an extended 20-year imprisonment at Teesside Crown Court.
Stephen Starling, residing on Herbert Street in Darlington, carried out two rapes and two violent assaults on the woman, during which he threatened to kill her and stated he would watch her bleed out.
In the previous month, Judge Jonathan Carroll described Starling as a "dangerous offender" who presents a significant risk of harm to women.
The judge ordered that he serve a minimum of 16 years in prison before being eligible for release on licence for the remaining four years of his sentence.
