STEPHEN SEDDON JAILED FOR 40 YEARS FOR PARENTS' MURDER
A 46-year-old conman and convicted fraudster named Stephen Seddon was sentenced to at least 40 years in prison in a life sentence without parole for the murder of his parents, Robert and Patricia Seddon. The investigation revealed that Seddon initially attempted to kill his parents by forcing them into a canal during a staged road accident while they were strapped into the back of a car.
He falsely claimed to have tried to save them but was unsuccessful.
His motivation was financial, aiming to inherit his parents’ estate valued at £230,000.
Four months after the failed attempt, Seddon murdered both of his parents using a sawed-off shotgun at their residence in Sale, Greater Manchester.
The court heard that the killings were planned and driven by greed, especially after his parents named him the sole beneficiary of their estate.
Justice Hamblen imposed a lifetime order, specifying he would never be released.
During the sentencing, Seddon maintained his innocence, shouting from the dock, 'No, not at all, they were not murdered by me at all.
I’m an innocent man.' The judge condemned his actions, calling them the execution of his own parents motivated by greed, and noted that Seddon acquired a firearm through criminal contacts to carry out the murders.
Outside the courtroom, police officers described Seddon as a malicious individual who lied about his role and was solely driven by greed.
They highlighted the grotesque nature of parricide, especially when fueled by financial motives.
