SALE TEEN THREATENED EX-GIRLFRIEND WITH GUN IN JEALOUS RAGE
A teenage thug who threatened to gun down his ex-girlfriend in a fit of jealousy has narrowly escaped being jailed.Mason Jones, 18, of Buxton Crescent, Sale, made a series of threats after accusing Megan Duckworth of starting a new relationship soon after theirs had ended.
He also threatened to use a 9mm Beretta to shoot his love rival David Flemming and involved his best friend Darious Leaff in backing up his claims.
Jones admitted harassment at Macclesfield magistrates court and was sentenced to 12 weeks in jail, suspended for two years, and ordered to perform 200 hours of unpaid work.
Magistrates warned that Jones narrowly avoided custody.
The court heard that Jones was emotionally unstable following the end of their two-month relationship in November.
Ms.
Marchuk, the prosecutor, said that Jones initially accepted the breakup but soon began texting and calling Megan, demanding to rekindle their relationship.
When she refused, his behavior became threatening.
Jones started sending threatening messages via Facebook, text, and phone calls, including a message at 11 pm on November 14 telling her he would 'bash in the heads' of her, her father, and Mr.
Flemming.
The following morning, Jones's friend Darious Leaff contacted Megan, warning her that Jones had shown him a gun.
Megan called Jones again, and he responded with threats involving a 9mm Beretta, saying 'it is 9mm Beretta that could easily go through you.' He proclaimed he had people looking for David Flemming and claimed he wanted to scare Megan because he was jealous.
Megan was very distressed following these threats, reporting the incidents to police, who arrested Jones.
Jones claimed to officers that he had instructed a friend to make a call about a gun to frighten Megan, which he acknowledged was an impulsive and immature reaction driven by jealousy.
The court emphasized that Jones had come close to going into custody and warned that his next actions could lead to jail time.
Additionally, a restraining order was issued prohibiting Jones from approaching Megan Duckworth, and he was ordered to pay £100 in compensation.
