BRADFORD MAN JAILED FOR BREACHING RESTRAINING ORDER AND FOLLOWING PARTNER TO NORTH WALES
A man from Bradford has been sentenced to prison after he tracked down his partner at Shell Island in North Wales, despite a court order that prohibited him from contacting her.Stephen Rhodes, aged 47, was arrested at a campsite in Llanbedr on September 2, where police found him intoxicated and upset.
He caused a disturbance, using foul language directed at his partner Joanne Banks and showing aggression toward staff.
During the arrest, Rhodes offered false information and resisted arrest efforts.
It was found that he was subject to a restraining order preventing any contact with Joanne Banks, although she was aware of the order and was attempting to reconcile with him.
She did not want to press charges but wanted the restraining order to remain in effect.
Rhodes admitted to excessive drinking and described his behavior as a 'silly mistake' in attempting to holiday with Joanne.
Due to his breaches of the restraining order and his conduct at the campsite, he was sentenced to 82 weeks in jail—comprising 30 weeks for two breaches of a suspended sentence and 52 weeks for violating the restraining order, with the sentences to run consecutively.
The court did not impose separate sentences for his public intoxication or for resisting police officers.
