IPSWICH MAN ADMITS MANSLAUGHTER OF WIFE AT NEEDHAM LAKE

The husband of a woman whose body was found at a Suffolk beauty spot has admitted killing her.

Ruth Jacobs, 60, was discovered a year ago at Needham Lake and a post-mortem examination found that she had drowned.

Stephen Jacobs, 59, of Spinner Close, Ipswich pleaded guilty at the town's crown court to manslaughter with diminished responsibility.

He had been charged with murder, but the court accepted his plea.

Sentencing has been scheduled for 8 March.

The body of Mrs Jacobs, from Ipswich, was found in the lake near Coddenham Road, Needham Market, on 20 February, 2011.

Mr Jacobs was arrested the same day and was detained under the Mental Health Act.
