Stephen Frame, age 34, was found to have repeatedly raped and sexually assaulted a young girl.
The victim, demonstrating courage, reported the incidents to the authorities in 2022.
In response, the police Safeguarding Department promptly initiated an investigation.
Frame was quickly taken into custody, though he maintained his innocence and denied the accusations.
In 2023, he faced charges including multiple counts of rape and sexual assault.
By April, Frame, residing on South Eldon Street in South Shields, appeared before Newcastle Crown Court.
The jury rejected his false denials and convicted him on all charges related to the sexual offences.
On July 2, the same court sentenced him to 17 years in prison.
Additionally, he is to serve the rest of his life on the Sex Offenders’ Register.
He was also handed a life-long Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a restraining order to regulate his conduct after his release.
