A man named Stephen Doyle, aged 37 and residing in Liverpool Road, Ainsdale, has been convicted of raping a woman he met at a charity night at a pub.
The incident occurred on July 31 of the previous year at the Hare and Hounds public house in Maghull.
Doyle initially denied the charges but was found guilty after a trial last month.
He is now sentenced to six years in prison.
The court also ordered Doyle to sign the Sex Offenders' Register for life and extended his license for an additional three years.
During a police interview, a female officer reported that the victim was still highly distressed, describing it as the hardest statement she had ever taken from a rape victim.
The judge, David Swift, emphasized the severity of the crime and Doyle's subsequent legal obligations.
Doyle, a father of four and a central heating engineer, is a divorced individual who now accepts his guilt.
The court highlighted the traumatic impact on the victim and the need for Doyle to be registered as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.
