FAKENHAM MAN STELIAN RADU FACES JAIL OVER CHILD INDECENT IMAGES AT NORWICH CROWN COURT
A resident of Fakenham, Stelian Radu, aged 34, is facing serious legal consequences after admitting to the possession of a vast collection of indecent images depicting minors, including some involving infants. The case was brought before Norwich Crown Court, where Radu pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to the creation and possession of these illicit images.According to the prosecution, Radu admitted to making a significant number of indecent images of children, with a total of 1,300 classified as Category A, which is considered the most severe level of such material. In addition to this, he acknowledged possessing 752 images categorized as Category B and 692 images classified as Category C. These categories reflect the increasing severity and explicitness of the content involved.
Furthermore, Radu confessed to possessing a prohibited image of a child, which is illegal under current laws, and also admitted to having 91 extreme pornographic images involving animals. The court was also informed that Radu distributed 19 images classified as Category A, all of which depicted children ranging from babies to teenagers. The prosecutor, Nichola Lamb, detailed that the images involved minors at various stages of childhood, emphasizing the disturbing nature of the material.
Radu, who resides on Warren Avenue in Fakenham, is scheduled to be sentenced at Norwich Crown Court. The judge indicated that the potential sentence could exceed the maximum powers of the court, suggesting a significant custodial term may be imposed. The court also considered but ultimately rejected strict bail conditions, noting that Radu had not reoffended since his arrest in December 2023. Instead, measures to restrict his online activity, described as a 'backdoor sexual harm prevention order,' were deemed sufficient to mitigate further risk.
Currently, Radu remains on unconditional bail until his sentencing hearing, which is set for June 9. The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat the distribution and possession of illegal and harmful images involving minors, and underscores the serious legal repercussions faced by individuals involved in such activities.
