2008: MAN JAILED IN RAPE CASE
A 45-YEAR-OLD man who became known for decorating the outside of his house at Christmas to raise funds for charity, has been jailed for 11 years for repeated rape of a young girl.
Graham Hillebrandt, of Dairy Farm Close, Fakenham, appeared before Norwich Crown Court and admitted five offences of raping a four-year-old girl.
He also admitted four offences of taking indecent photographs and one of possessing indecent pictures.
The offences happened nearly three years ago.
Police seized his computer and found videos showing him having oral sex with the girl, along with more than 200 indecent photos and over 20 movie images.
In mitigation, his employer’s record was praised, and he was described as ashamed and remorseful.
Judge Simon Barham sentenced Hillebrandt to 11 years, recording the abuse on a camcorder, and emphasized children’s protection.
He was placed on the sex offenders' register indefinitely, banned from working with children, and given a 20-year sex offender prevention order, prohibiting contact with under-16s without supervision and access to the internet.
Known for his charity work lighting up his house at Christmas, his efforts were recognized in 2004 when he won a Christmas lighting competition, with some proceeds going to charities such as the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
