SOPHIE JENKINS FROM OLDBURY SENTENCED FOR BRUTAL ATTACK AND RACIST ABUSE

Sophie Jenkins, a woman from Oldbury, has been convicted and sentenced for a series of serious violent crimes and breaches of court orders. The incident that led to her conviction involved a brutal assault on her former partner, which took place during a night of drinking and emotional turmoil. According to court reports, Jenkins and her ex-partner were together consuming Frosty Jack's cider when tensions escalated over a previous relationship of the victim. During this heated exchange, Jenkins became visibly upset and aggressive, which culminated in her lashing out violently.

It was revealed that Jenkins had previously violated a court order that explicitly prohibited her from entering within 100 metres of her ex-partner’s residence in Oldbury. Despite this legal restriction, she continued to contact him through messaging, including sending racially abusive and threatening messages. One such message read: "F*** you n***** I'll finish the job next time, see you very soon." This conduct further demonstrated her disregard for the court’s directives and her ongoing hostility towards her ex.

The victim, who was understandably terrified for his safety, recounted that Jenkins initially stayed overnight at his home out of fear of losing her tenancy, despite knowing she was not supposed to be there. During their evening together, after consuming approximately a pint and a half of Frosty Jack's cider, Jenkins’s emotional state deteriorated. Her agitation turned into violence when she grabbed the victim by the neck, punched him, and forcibly grabbed his arms. The situation escalated further when Jenkins entered his bedroom and violently attacked him with a pint glass, smashing it against his head. The force of the blow caused blood to flow profusely, and the victim fell unconscious as a result.

When he regained consciousness, he was met with a scene of blood and Jenkins apologizing profusely. Despite her apologies, she continued her abusive behavior and struck him again, inflicting a severe head wound. The injury was serious enough to require medical attention, and the victim was left with lasting emotional trauma and fear for his safety.

Following her arrest, Jenkins was found to have breached a non-molestation order that was in place until January of the following year. This order explicitly prohibited her from contacting or approaching her ex-partner. Her breaches included sending unwanted, racially abusive text messages, which further demonstrated her ongoing hostility and disregard for legal restrictions. Jenkins ultimately pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including assault, breaches of the court order, and a breach of her suspended sentence.

Her sentencing took place at Birmingham Crown Court, where Judge Avik Mukherjee sentenced her to 17 months in prison. The judge emphasized that the activation of her suspended sentence was necessary due to her failure to amend her behavior, which had caused significant harm and fear to the victim. The court heard that the victim believed Jenkins might attempt to kill him, and her remorse, expressed through her guilty plea, was considered a mitigating factor. The judge underscored the seriousness of her actions and the profound impact they had on her victim, highlighting the importance of holding her accountable for her violent conduct and breaches of court orders.
