SIRFRAZ AHMED FROM DEWSBURY AND LEEDS SENTENCED FOR ABUSE OF YOUNG GIRLS
In a disturbing case that has shocked the communities of Dewsbury and Leeds, Sirfraz Ahmed, a man with a troubling criminal history, was found guilty of heinous sexual offenses committed against three young girls. The victims, all under the age of seven, endured a series of traumatic experiences in the early 2000s, with the abuse taking place across various locations within Leeds.Leeds Crown Court heard detailed accounts of the abuse, revealing that Ahmed, who was in his teens at the time of the offenses, targeted these vulnerable children in different parts of the city. One of the victims was subjected to abuse in front of other children, a detail that underscores the cruelty and calculated nature of Ahmed’s actions. Another girl was assaulted after Ahmed lured her into a garden shed, a secluded space that facilitated his predatory behavior.
The court was informed that the abuse persisted over a period of time, causing lasting psychological scars. It was only in 2020 that Ahmed was finally apprehended, after one of his victims summoned the courage to report the crimes to the police. This brave step led to his arrest and subsequent prosecution.
During the proceedings, Ahmed, who currently resides on Albion Street in Dewsbury, initially denied any involvement in the offenses. He accused the victims of fabricating their stories, attempting to dismiss the allegations as false reports. However, after a thorough investigation and the presentation of evidence, he eventually pleaded guilty to four counts of indecent assault.
One of the victims delivered a heartfelt statement to the court, recounting how she found the strength to come forward after encountering Ahmed years later. She described how he taunted her about the abuse, which motivated her to seek justice. She emphasized that her decision to report the crimes was driven not only by a desire for personal justice but also by a wish to prevent other children from suffering similar harm. Her words resonated deeply within the courtroom, highlighting the lasting impact of Ahmed’s actions.
Sirfraz Ahmed’s criminal record is extensive, including previous convictions for robbery, burglary, theft, and driving offenses. Notably, in 2015, he received a 78-month prison sentence for robbery. His latest sentencing reflects the severity of his recent crimes, with the court imposing a 28-month prison term. Additionally, Ahmed was ordered to register as a sex offender for the next ten years, a measure aimed at protecting the community from further harm.
Judge Timothy Clayson addressed Ahmed directly during sentencing, emphasizing the profound psychological and emotional damage inflicted upon his young victims. The judge’s remarks underscored the gravity of the offenses and the lasting trauma caused by Ahmed’s predatory behavior, which has left a permanent mark on the lives of those affected.
