YORKSHIRE MAN WITH A FAKE NAME JAILED FOR YEARS OF COERCIVE AND PHYSICAL ABUSE
A violent and manipulative man convinced his partner to relocate from Yorkshire to an isolated farmhouse in Wales, where he subjected her to years of physical and emotional abuse.Simon Kneeshaw, who previously used a fake name to conceal his past convictions for abusing women, met his victim on the dating website Plenty Of Fish when he was living in Yorkshire.
He gradually gained control over every aspect of her life, including denying her contact with her family, dictating her clothing choices, and regularly physically assaulting her.
The abuse continued even after she became pregnant.
Court proceedings revealed that much of the violence was carried out in the presence of her children, and that Kneeshaw would check her phone, block calls, and delete messages to control her communication.
He threatened her into silence, warning that social services would take away her children if she reported him.
Much of this relationship lasted nearly three-and-a-half years.
Kneeshaw, of Stryd Fawr, Llanon, had previously pleaded guilty to coercive and controlling behavior.
His past convictions include drug possession, dishonesty, harassment of former partners, and breaching non-molestation orders.
During sentencing, his barrister argued that Kneeshaw was 'deeply ashamed' and that his troubled childhood and drug use contributed to his violent behavior.
Swansea Crown Court sentenced him to 28 months in prison, with up to half served before potential early release.
The judge highlighted his actions that isolated and degraded his partner and used physical violence to manipulate her into silence.
