SIMON HARRISON FROM DEIGHTON SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF YOUNG GIRL IN LEEDS
In a case that has shocked the community of Deighton and the surrounding areas, Simon Harrison, a 34-year-old man from Riddings Rise, was handed a lengthy prison sentence after being found guilty of multiple serious sexual offences committed against a young girl. The conviction was secured following a trial at Leeds Crown Court, where the jury deliberated and returned a verdict of guilt against Harrison for a series of heinous crimes. The offences for which Harrison was convicted included acts of oral rape, attempted rape, and various other sexual assaults involving a girl who was under the age of 13 at the time. The judge presiding over the case, Judge Mushtaq Khokhar, detailed the severity of the crimes during the sentencing hearing held at Bradford Crown Court. He emphasized that Harrison’s offending had been particularly disturbing, noting that the defendant had used promises of sweets and clothing to manipulate and lure the young girl into situations where he committed these acts.
Judge Khokhar highlighted the emotional and psychological toll that the case had taken on the victim, who was required to give evidence in court. The judge stated that Harrison’s actions appeared to be driven by his own sexual needs, with no regard for the harm inflicted upon the young girl. The court heard that the abuse spanned a period during which Harrison exploited the girl’s trust and innocence.
As a result of his crimes, Harrison was sentenced to a total of 12 years in prison. Additionally, the judge imposed a mandatory one-year extended licence period, which will be in effect following his release. The court also ordered that Harrison must register as a sex offender with the police for the remainder of his life. Furthermore, he will be subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, aimed at protecting the community from any potential future offences.
Harrison’s case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safeguarding vulnerable children and the justice system’s commitment to holding offenders accountable for such grave violations.
