SHELLY MCNALLY FROM STROUD CONVICTED OF SEXUAL ASSAULT ON YOUNG GIRLS IN GLOUCESTER

In a distressing case that has shocked the community of Stroud, a 22-year-old woman named Shelly McNally, residing on Matthews Way in the Paganhill area, was found guilty of multiple serious charges involving the sexual abuse of two young girls. The offences took place when the victims were just 7 and 8 years old, and McNally was only 16 at the time of the abuse.

Following a four-day trial at Gloucester Crown Court, the jury, composed of eight men and four women, delivered a verdict of guilt on ten counts of molestation. The victims, who were minors at the time, endured a series of disturbing incidents that have now been legally recognized as grave offences. As the verdict was read, McNally was seen sobbing, visibly distressed by the outcome of the court proceedings.

Judge Michael Cullum, presiding over the case, ordered McNally to be released on bail pending the preparation of a pre-sentence report by the probation service. The judge announced that the sentencing hearing would take place on December 16 at Bristol Crown Court. In his remarks, Judge Cullum emphasized the importance of understanding the full scope of sentencing options available, including the possibility of custody, but also highlighting the potential for supervision and other measures suitable to McNally’s circumstances, given the severity of her convictions.

He further advised McNally that she would need to meet with a probation officer and that her future sentence would depend on the findings of the pre-sentence report. The judge made it clear that all options remained open, and he urged her to avoid any further trouble, stressing the seriousness of her offences.

Throughout the trial, McNally maintained her innocence, denying all charges and choosing not to give evidence in her own defence. The prosecution argued that the abuse occurred during moments when McNally was engaging in what she described as playful activities with the girls. Prosecutor Kerry Barker detailed that the first girl’s ordeal began when McNally introduced a game called “under the bridge,” which was used as a means to carry out the abuse.

This case has left a lasting impact on the community of Stroud, raising concerns about the safety of children and the importance of vigilance in protecting vulnerable minors from exploitation and harm.
