SHEILA ROBSON FROM NEWTON AYCLIFFE SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE AND INDECENT IMAGES

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Newton Aycliffe, Sheila Robson has been found guilty of heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of a young child and the production of indecent images of the victim. The case unfolded during a detailed investigation into online activities linked to a man identified as Carl Thompson, who was involved in the criminal scheme before his death.

According to court proceedings at Durham Crown Court, authorities uncovered evidence that implicated Robson in a series of disturbing acts. The investigation was triggered by concerns over Thompson’s alleged attempts to engage in sexual communication with a minor. During the course of the inquiry, law enforcement officers seized Thompson’s mobile phone in February of the previous year. A forensic analysis of the device revealed a series of incriminating images and messages.

Among the evidence was a series of WhatsApp conversations from April of the previous year, in which Thompson exchanged messages with Robson. These exchanges included graphic images of a naked child, which Thompson had sent to Robson. The messages also contained disturbing comments from Thompson, expressing his desire to abuse the child and persuading Robson to send him photographs of herself sexually touching the young victim. In a chilling admission, Robson told Thompson that engaging in sexual acts with the child “felt so good.”

Robson’s involvement was further confirmed when she admitted to charges of sexual assault of the child, as well as offences related to the creation, possession, and distribution of indecent images of a minor. Her actions, which demonstrated a willingness to participate in the abuse, have been met with severe legal consequences.

Judge Nathan Adams sentenced Robson to a prison term of 31 months, equivalent to two years and seven months. In addition to her incarceration, Robson was ordered to register as a sex offender for life. She is also required to adhere to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order that will remain in effect for 12 years. The court also indicated that she is likely to be placed on the barring register, which would prohibit her from working with children or vulnerable adults in the future, reflecting the gravity of her crimes and the potential risk she poses to society.
