NEWTON AYCLIFFE PREDATOR DOWNED LAGER CANS BEFORE VILE SEX ATTACK
A Newton Aycliffe predator downed lager and whiskey before launching a depraved sex attack on a "vulnerable" woman after calling her a "frigid b****".Andrew Weller, 61, will spend nearly ten years behind bars for a vile sex attack in 2023.
He was caged at Teesside Crown Court, on Friday, after a jury found him guilty of sexual assault and two counts of assault by penetration.
Summarising the case, Judge Amanda Rippon said he glugged around four or five cans of lager before moving on to whisky.
She said the defendant was "heavily intoxicated" when he put his hand up a woman's vest top and she told him to "get off me".
The victim managed to get away briefly before Weller attacked her again.
Judge Rippon said: "You told her to pack it in and called her a frigid b****.
She told you that you were hurting her and told you to stop.
"You then got on top of her.
You were much larger than her and were effectively sitting on her.
Your hands were near to her throat making it difficult to breathe." The court heard Weller kissed the woman before she was able to push him off.
However, he then started screaming and making threats before kicking and smashing a glass pane.
"She was terrified - she thought you were going to hit her or else kill her," Judge Rippon said.
The court heard the police were called and Weller was arrested.
Sentencing, Judge Rippon said the woman was "vulnerable" and the attack has had a lasting impact on her.
She said: "The impact on your victim has been considerable and substantial in very many different ways.
She describes in her victim impact statement high blood pressure, stress, recurring nightmares, paranoia and trauma.
She was particularly vulnerable." Weller has seven convictions for 10 offences and has never been to prison before.
Judge Rippon said there is a possibility he was in a "manic depressive" state at the time of the attack, but sentenced him to nine-and-a-half years in prison.
The MacMillan Road defendant was also handed a restraining order and must sign the Sex Offenders' Register.
