SHAUN O’DONNELL SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENCE IN DONEGAL

Shaun O’Donnell, a man originally from Leeds, has been convicted and sentenced for a serious sexual offence that took place in Donegal. The court proceedings revealed that O’Donnell, aged 34, was found guilty of raping a woman while she was asleep beside her partner and their newborn baby at a private residence in Donegal.

The incident occurred in 2021, following a night of social drinking at the victim’s home. O’Donnell had stayed over that night, and the following morning, he entered the woman’s bed and committed the assault. The woman initially mistook him for her partner, which made the assault even more traumatic when she realized it was O’Donnell. She quickly fled the scene, overwhelmed by the shock and horror of what had transpired.

During the trial, it was revealed that O’Donnell had a criminal history that included previous involvement in assault and dangerous driving.
