CAMBRIDGE MAN SENT CHILD EXPLOITATION MESSAGES AND GETS NEARLY FOUR YEARS JAIL
Shaun Lynam, a man from Cambridgeshire, was convicted of contacting a person he thought was a 14-year-old girl with sexually explicit messages. His communication started via Facebook in January, during which he sent an explicit photo of himself and exchanged messages characterized in court as 'sexualised.' He also expressed an intent to meet at a hotel, indicating malicious intentions. The girl reported the messages to authorities, leading to Lynam’s arrest at his residence in Northfields, Lode. He later acknowledged attempting to persuade a girl aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual acts, and admitted to engaging in sexual communications with a minor. On July 3, he received a sentence of three years and nine months in prison at Cambridge Crown Court. Detective Bethany Reynolds commented, 'Lynam genuinely thought he was communicating with a 14-year-old girl, but he continued to send highly explicit messages. His proposal to meet at a hotel demonstrates his unacceptable intentions.' She concluded, 'Fortunately, there were no teenage girls involved directly, and he has been sentenced. Our team is dedicated to safeguarding children in our county and pursuing justice against those who seek to prey on them.'
