DEVON BARMAN CONVICTED OF MANSLAUGHTER FOR GIRLFRIEND'S DEATH
A man named Shaun Foley, aged 45, who was working as a barman, has been convicted of manslaughter for pushing his girlfriend, Theresa Parkin, to her death from the top floor of a multi-storey car park in Torquay in June 2010.Foley claimed that Theresa jumped to her death, but CCTV footage contradicted this, showing them arguing shortly before she fell approximately 50 feet.
Det Insp Mike West stated that Foley's attempts to deny responsibility placed a 'terrible strain on her family.' Foley maintained that Parkin threw herself off the roof right in front of him, claiming there was no argument or tension, but CCTV footage depicted him as becoming angry, aggressive, and violent towards her.
The last image of Miss Parkin showed her backing away from Foley towards the railings, then disappearing from view, while Foley was seen reeling backwards with his arms raised.
After the incident, Foley ran into a nearby pub and falsely told customers he saw her run to the edge and jump.
Foley denied murder but was convicted of manslaughter by a jury at Exeter Crown Court and is awaiting sentencing.
Theresa Parkin’s family issued a statement describing her as their 'beautiful daughter' who was also a loving sister and proud mother.
