SHAUN ASHLEY SMITH - JAILED FOR TEN YEARS FOR RAPING A GIRL UNDER 13

In May, Taunton Crown Court convicted Smith, who resides on Laverock Court in Taunton, of five separate crimes committed during the 1980s and 1990s.

The 49-year-old was sentenced for three instances of rape involving a girl under the age of 13, along with two cases of indecent assault on a girl under 14.

These offenses occurred between 1985 and 1997.

As part of his sentence, Smith received a restraining order and was ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
