Shane Walton Domestic Abuser in Dundee

In Dundee, a man named Shane Walton was recorded laughing as he strangled his former partner to a point where her skin appeared to change colour.

The incident unfolded after Walton was asked to leave a gathering at a flat in the Hilltown area.

The 25-year-old then restrained the woman, using both hands to choke her, until she was saved by a friend.

Walton admitted guilt to the assault on December 21, 2024, and is now waiting for his sentencing.

Court documents indicated Walton has a history of domestic abuse convictions and was on two bail conditions at the time of the attack.

The relationship had concluded earlier in 2024, and prosecutors characterized the woman as being at a high risk of further domestic violence.

Emma Farmer, the prosecutor, stated Walton was present at her flat without an invitation.

When asked to leave, he became very angry.

"He held her down on the bed, leaned over her, and seized her neck with both hands, squeezing tightly," Ms Farmer detailed.

She added that a witness returned around 7:30 to 8:30 in the morning and observed Walton leaning over the woman, choking her.

The witness believed she was turning a different colour and shouted at Walton to stop, eventually causing him to release her by grabbing his leg.

Video footage from a doorbell camera showed the woman’s friend shouting, "You’re choking her, stop," and telling Walton to cease his laughter.

Emergency services responded, and police found the distressed woman and heard her report of being assaulted while in bed.

Walton, residing on Forres Avenue, was later tracked down and pleaded guilty on the day he was scheduled to stand trial.

The sheriff decided to delay sentencing until April to allow a social work report to be completed.
