SHANE CLARKE FROM SOUTH OCKENDON SENTENCED FOR YEARS OF SEXUAL ABUSE IN THURROCK AND AVELEY
In a case that has shocked the local community, Shane Clarke, a 35-year-old man from South Ockendon, has been sentenced to nearly nine years in prison following a series of disturbing sexual offenses committed against a young girl.The crimes, which spanned over two years, involved multiple instances of abuse that took place in the vicinity of Aveley, a nearby area within Thurrock.
Clarke’s heinous actions came to light after the victim reported the abuse to authorities.
The incidents occurred on more than 15 separate occasions between August 2019 and April 2021, during which Clarke engaged in sexual activity with the young girl.
The severity and duration of the abuse prompted a thorough investigation by specialist police officers, who worked diligently to gather evidence and build a case against him.
Following his arrest, Shane Clarke was formally charged with two counts of sexual activity with a child.
He subsequently admitted to the charges, which led to his appearance at Southend Crown Court.
The court proceedings culminated in a sentencing on March 4, where Clarke was handed an eight-and-a-half-year prison term.
His former residence was on Hall Crescent, South Ockendon, but the crimes took place in the broader Thurrock area, including Aveley.
