SEAN TOGHER FROM SCAWBY CAUGHT WITH THOUSANDS OF CHILD ABUSE IMAGES IN GRIMSBY COURT

In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, Sean Togher, a 44-year-old man residing on Messingham Lane in the village of Scawby, was found to possess an alarming collection of illegal and highly disturbing images. The incident came to light after police executed a search warrant at Togher's residence on March 9 of the previous year, following credible information indicating his involvement with an illegal website that hosted illicit content.

During the search, law enforcement officers seized a laptop computer along with several CDs and a memory stick, all of which were subjected to detailed forensic analysis. The investigation uncovered a staggering total of 7,549 deleted still images of child abuse on the laptop alone. In addition, authorities discovered 982 still images stored on disks and an additional 23 images on a memory stick. While the majority of these images fell into categories of lesser severity, a small number were classified at the most serious levels of abuse, highlighting the disturbing nature of the material Togher had accessed.

It was revealed during court proceedings that Togher had first viewed such illegal images back in 2008. However, after his arrest, he admitted to viewing only legal adult pornography. The police investigation also uncovered that Togher had accessed extreme pornography involving animals and adults, further emphasizing the extent of his disturbing online activity.

Prosecutor Jeremy Evans outlined the case at Grimsby Crown Court, emphasizing the severity of the findings. In response, Ian Haywood, representing Togher, highlighted that his client had no prior criminal record. Haywood described Togher as being deeply ashamed and disgusted with himself for his actions, expressing that he recognized the need for help due to his prolonged engagement with such material.

In sentencing, the court imposed a three-year community order on Togher. This included mandatory supervision and participation in a sex offenders' treatment programme. Additionally, Togher was issued a five-year sexual offences prevention order, which restricts his activities and access to certain online content. He is also required to register as a sex offender for a period of five years, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities to protect the community from potential harm.
