SEAN RALPH FROM POULTON SENTENCED FOR MONSTROUS RAPE ATTACKS IN PRESTON
In July 2013, a man named Sean Ralph, hailing from Knott End in Poulton, was handed a severe prison sentence after being convicted of heinous sexual offenses involving two teenage girls.The court described his crimes as both 'hideous' and 'monstrous,' emphasizing the gravity of his actions and the profound impact they had on his victims.
Ralph, aged 22 at the time, was found guilty of raping a 15-year-old girl in 2010 and subsequently assaulting another girl, aged 16, in 2011.
Despite denying the charges of rape, Ralph was convicted following a trial at Preston Crown Court.
He was also cleared of an additional charge related to the rape of one of the victims, but the court heard compelling evidence against him.
During the proceedings, one of the victims provided a personal statement describing how the assault had severely affected her educational pursuits and overall well-being.
The court was informed that Ralph’s behavior extended beyond the acts of sexual violence, as he subjected the victims to a gross attack on their character, accusing them of being untruthful and willing to tell outrageous lies against an innocent man.
Fraser Livesey, representing Ralph, maintained that his client continued to deny the allegations.
He stated, “It is his first custodial experience,” and expressed hope that Ralph would use his time in prison productively.
The barrister also highlighted that Ralph’s misconduct was rooted in childish behavior and binge drinking at the time, suggesting that the offenses were born out of boorishness rather than malevolence.
Ralph was sentenced to six and a half years in prison for each of the two counts of rape, with the sentences to run consecutively, resulting in a total of 13 years behind bars.
Judge Christopher Cornwall condemned Ralph’s attitude towards his victims, noting that he treated them with utter contempt and viewed them merely as objects or means to satisfy his sexual desires.
The judge emphasized the serious risk Ralph posed to other women, given the nature of his offenses.
Furthermore, Ralph was ordered to register as a sex offender for life, reflecting the court’s view of the ongoing danger he represents to the community.
The case underscores the devastating impact of his crimes on the victims and highlights the judicial system’s firm stance against such heinous acts.
