    In a devastating case that has shocked the community of Thornton Heath in south London, Sean McSweeny, aged 24, was tragically murdered by his own father, Colin McSweeny, aged 59. The incident has led to a life imprisonment sentence for Colin, marking a grim chapter in family violence within the city.

    According to court proceedings, the tragic events unfolded following a heated dispute over Sean's plans to leave his family home with his five-year-old daughter. Sean had informed his parents of his intentions, which sparked a confrontation that quickly escalated into violence. The court heard that the altercation took place in the garage of the family residence, where Colin McSweeny claimed that his son, Sean, turned around holding golf clubs and shouting at him. Fearing for his life, Colin believed he was about to be attacked, which led him to strike his son with a scaffolding pole.
