STAFFORDSHIRE MAN JAILED FOR RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT
A man named Scott Lazenby, aged 27, who is an aeronautics graduate, has been convicted and sentenced for serious sexual offenses.
Lazenby met a woman on the Plenty of Fish website, with whom he arranged to meet.
At her home in Colne, he assaulted her by throwing her onto a bed, molesting her, and raping her twice.
Previously, four days earlier, Lazenby had attacked another woman in Ashton-under-Lyne, where he groped her breast underneath her clothing in front of her young son while they were sitting on a sofa.
The victim immediately protested and started calling 999 as Lazenby left the house.
Despite denying the charges of two rapes and related sexual assault, he was convicted after a trial.
Lazenby was sentenced to seven years in prison and was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life and was prohibited from accessing dating websites for 13 years.
The court highlighted that using dating websites does not imply consent and noted the impact on the victims, who experienced depression, trauma, and difficulties in socializing afterward.
