LEEDS MAN JAILED FOR ASSAULT ON PARTNER AFTER DRINKING SPREE
Scott Hunt, a 36-year-old man, has been sentenced to prison following a violent assault on his partner.Court reports indicate that Hunt became aggressive after consuming approximately 250 millilitres of vodka and cider at his residence on October 18 of the previous year.
The incident was reportedly instigated when their dog, Dobby, caused disorder in the living room, which appeared to provoke Hunt.
Prosecutor Tom Jackson stated that Hunt, at approximately 6am, called in sick to work and commenced drinking.
He allegedly told the woman that he 'almost snapped his jaw' prior to becoming violent.
Court documents reveal Hunt dragged his partner from the living room into the bedroom, during which he yelled about wanting to sleep with a police officer who had visited the previous night.
He then struck her in the face, causing a split lip.
The victim subsequently contacted the police, leading to Hunt’s arrest.
In police custody, Hunt denied making threats and claimed that the injury resulted from an earlier incident.
The judge sentenced him to 17 months in prison.
A court mitigation statement highlighted that this was Hunt’s first incarceration and mentioned his difficulties being apart from family, especially his unwell mother, and losing his home of over a decade.
While in prison, Hunt has become a peer leader for Andy’s Man Club and is actively supporting fellow inmates.
